Have to keep the app running!

This is a good app as long as you keep it running. I went for a walk and didnt have the app running. It only calculated the steps up to 3478 steps and 3.4km but the time kept running. The next day I did the same walk seeing if I can do it faster and it calculated 8763 steps 6.9km but it took me the same amount of time. So I did the same walk in my car to see the distance and it turns out to be a 7.9km distance. Not happy at all with this app I was using it to train for a 5km run.
